Nehru Joining TDP Causes Heartburn
- What it means to Uma, Vamsi?
Vijayawada: Joining of former minister and noted caste leader Devineni Nehru along with his followers in the TDP on Thursday in the presence of AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has caused heartburn to the leaders of the same caste in krishna district.
Noted among them is Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, TDP MLA representing Gannavaram and Bode Prasad, TDP MLA from Penamalur who were conspicuous by their absence at Nehru’s joining function. Bonda Umamaheswarao, a fire brand young MLA from Vijayawada Central constituency, also did not participate in the function. But his absence was not unexpected because of caste equations in krishna district.
Vamsi and Nehru have been at loggerheads for a long time. Vamsi approached police apprehending life threat from Nehru before TDP came to power. Challenges and counter-challenges between these two leaders were a hot topic during that period.
After Vamsi won the election and the TDP came to power, calm prevailed in both the camps as Nehru and his son lost elections contesting on congress ticket.
Now Nehru joining the TDP has become a threat to Vamsi’s political future as his party rival in Gannavaram constituency, Dasari Balavardhana Rao, is very close to Nehru. At one stage, everybody thought Vamsi would join the YSRCP as he embraced YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on a road in Vijayawada.
Moreover, Vamsi is a close friend of Gudivada MLA Nani who is an arch rival of Chandrababu Naidu and a strong leader of the YSRCP in krishna district.
On Thursday morning, Vamsi and Bode prasad, MLA from Penamalur, met Kala Venkata Rao, TDP President and CM Naidu expressing their concern at Nehru’s admission into the party.
It is reliably learnt that the CM had assured both of them that Nehru will not interfere in the politics of their constituencies.
Bode prasad is worried over his future as Nehru or his son Avinash may be given party ticket from Penamalur in next elections as Nehru has a strong following in Penamalur area.
Bode Prasad has no chance even in YSRCP as Kolusu Pardhasaradhi, official spokes person of YSRCP, is sure to contest from there.
Bode Prasad, tainted in call money-sex rocket issue that has embarrassed the TDP government some time ago.
There was feud between supporters of Nehru and Bode Prasad on sand issue also. Because of their rivalry, the sand reach was closed for some time.
Another person who is much embarrassed because of Nehru joining the TDP is no other than his cousin and Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswarao.
Until now Uma is known as an undisputed leader of the TDP in krishna district. Not anymore.
Chandrababu Naidu has been giving importance to Uma for his loyalty to party even when out of power. Because of CM’s trust in Uma , he was given very important portfolio like irrigation.
Now with Nehru’s return to the TDP fold as a senior leader in the district, the scale might move in favour of him and away from Uma.
There will be a lot of changes in the Krishna district unit of the TDP in the next couple of months because of Nehru’s entry.
