Nayeem Killed Scribe
Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) which has been probing the death of gangster Nayeemuddin in an encounter has come to believe that the notorious criminal bumped off a journalist for giving information about his criminal plans to his rival. Afzal Ahmed Khan alia Babar Khan was working for a local television channel and was a close associate of Nayeem. Konapuri Ramulu, TRS leader, was opposed to Nayeem. Babar was friendly with Ramulu also. Nayeem wanted Babar to give information about Ramulu so that he can plan for the latter’s murder. Babar had alerted Ramulu about Nayeem’s motive. On knowing this, Nayeem told his men to eliminate Babar. Babar was called to Nayeem’s den through another TRS leader. Babar was beaten black and blue by Shakeel, a follower of the mafia don. Since Babar was an asthma patient, he collapsed and when he was forced to drink water he got choked and died on the spot. Babar’s body was burnt near a lake on the outskirts of the city. Babar’s wife Asra Afreen lodged a complaint with the police in spite of being threatened by Nayeem’s sister Saleema not to reveal the truth about Babar’s murder. The complaint was lodged after Ramulu was murdered in May 2014.
Ramgopal Varma’s tweet
Famous Bollywood director Ramgopal Varma who declared that he would direct two-part movie based on the life of Nayeem has tweeted that he has been getting threatening calls from the so called Nayeem’s associates. Varma also revealed that Nayeem had connections with Dawood Ibrahim who is hiding in Karachi. At the same time, Varma has released the theme song of the movie on Nayeem. The song was sung by Varma himself.
Gadar meets DGP
Another legend, Gadar, people’s poet, who has been moving with a bullet in his body that was lodged by Nayeem when the latter attacked him as part of his campaign against Naxalites and human rights activists, had approached the police with a request to reopen the case. The Balladeer met DGP Anurag Sharma and requested him to reinvestigate the attempt on his life at Alwal 19 years ago. `
Wife’s remand extended
In the meanwhile, Nayeem’s wife, brother-in-law and mother-in-law along with ten other accused were produced in the court at Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district on Thursday. After Nayeem was encountered, the police conducted search operations at the residence of his in-laws at Eedulagudem near Miryalguda on August 8, 2016. The police seized a number of important documents, gold and cash in the search. Then the relatives of Nayeem were arrested and sent to remand in conncection with the sale of a girl. The remand was sought to be extended. The police brought them from the jail in Chanchalguda in Hyderabad to the court in Miryalaguda with a request to extend the remand. Nayeem’s wife Saheeda Begum, mother-in-law Sayyed Sultana, brother-in-law Sadiq, sevants and relatives Parveen, Shafee, Paramesh, Dattu, Abdul Mateen, K Jangaiah, Puli Nagaraju, Bachu Nagaraju, Masood Ali and Saleema Begum were brought to Miryalaguda court. Magistrate A Radhakrishna Murthy had extended the remand and ordered that the accused be taken back to the jail.
The application filed by Nayeem’s man Sardar for an anticipatory bail was on Thursday rejected by the Additional District Court at Vanaparthy in Mahaboobnagar district. Kamisetty Srinivasulu, a fertilizer dealer, received a phone call on 25 July 2016 from Kanche Ramaiah saying that Bhai (Nayeem) has asked him to bring the business man to a den. After three days, Sardar, another follower of the gangster, went to Srinivasulu’s residence, tied a piece of cloth on his eyes blindfolding him and took him to a den in a scorpio car. At the den, one unknown person who was follower of the don asked Srinivasulu to pay Rs 2 crore since they are carrying on a campaign against the Naxalites. In case he cannot pay the amount, his son has to be handed over to them to be part of Nayeem’s network. A shocked and terrified Srinivasulu had agreed to pay Rs 60 lakh. On the same day, Srinivasulu was standing at Karman Ghat in Hyderabad with a bag containing a cash of Rs 30 lakh and 15 tulas gold when some unidentified man came and took away that bag as planned by Nayeem gang. After Nayeem was killed, Srinivasulu had lodged a complaint with the Achampet police station on 19 August 2016. Sardar has applied through his lawyer for an anticipatory bail. District Judge Srinivasakumar has decided against granting anticipatory bail.
14 produced in Bhongir court
Another set of 14 accused in Nayeem’s case were produced on PT warrant in Bhongir court in Nalgonda district on Thursday. Nayeem’s right-hand man Pasam Srinu, ZPTC Member Sandela Sudhakar were sent to Warangal jail and the rest to Nalgonda jail. Two more suspects were arrested by the police and produced in Bhongir court on Thursday. Saragada Hari, Gorrenkala Srinu were the two suspects arrested. Another follower of the mafia don, Tech Madhu was produced in Kalvakurti court in Mahaboobnagar district by the SIT officials. He is facing charges of threats, blackmail and forceful collections in the district.
