Nawaz Sharif appoints 22 MPs to highlight Kashmir issue at world stage UN
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif today nominated 22 special parliamentarians to raise the Kashmir issue on the world stage during the United Nations General Assembly session in September.
“We will remind UN its long held promises of self determination to the Kashmiri people”, Mr Sharif said.
The move by Mr Sharif came against the backdrop of escalating the war of words between both Pakistan and India in the after-effects of the still continuing unrest in the Kashmir Valley that broke recently after Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani was killed by the security forces.
Mr Sharif wants his nominated 22 special parliamentarians to highlight the Kashmir issue in different parts of the world.
“We will also make it clear to India that it was them that approached UN several decades ago on the Kashmir dispute but now it is not fulfilling its promises,” Nawaz Sharif said.
