Nandyal Bypoll: Voter Verified Paper Audit Rail (VVPAT) To Be Used
Amaravati: Nandyal by-poll is creating heat as polling day is nearing on with war of words between the main parties, the TDP and the YSRCP. Based on the allegations of tampering and accuracy of EVM’S, the EC has decided to use VVPAT in by elections, for the first time in AP.
With this, voter can verify his vote cast as intended, giving more transparency in the election process.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, as soon as voter presses the button of his choice, printed paper will come out showing for which party they voted. This printed one will stay out for 7 seconds and will go inside. The first level check of EVM and VVPAT will be done in presence of the political party representatives.
Nandyal by-poll will take place on August 23rd, with 15 candidates in race and the main fight would be between the TDP and the YSRCP. The results will be announced on the same day, August 26th.
