Nanda new director of AMD

Hyderabad: L.K. Nanda, Scientific Officer-H+ has taken over as Director, Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) on Thursday after superannuation of Dr. A.K. Rai.  As AMD Director, Nanda has the responsibilities of overall planning, supervision, guidance and extraction of uranium, thorium and other atomic minerals required for the country’s nuclear power programme.  Earlier, Nanda was Additional Director in AMD, Hyderabad.

He joined Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research in 1981, after obtaining Master’s Degree in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.  He is a hardcore field geologist actively involved in exploration and research in atomic minerals in different geological domains of Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western and North Eastern parts of India spanning over a career of 35 years in different capacities.

He has published several scientific research articles in national/international journals of repute and participated in national/international scientific research forums and technical meetings. -NSS
