Naidu Vows To Stand By His Word On Kapu Reservations
Vijayawada: “I will stand by my word on Kapu reservations, no one needs to remind me of my responsibility,” said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.
Naidu promised that he would construct one Kapu Welfare Bhavan for each district.
CM Naidu participated in the Kapu Atmeeya Samavesam at Vijayawada. He assured that he would solve the Kapu reservations issue as soon as possible.
The meeting was held under the aegis of Deputy CM Chinarajappa. Naidu, who criticized that the Kapu reservations were removed during Congress regime, said that he himself announced giving BC status to Kapus, though no one had asked him for it.
“Why didn’t the people who are presently speaking about the interests of Kapus, not incorporate it in their manifesto?” he asked.
Naidu said that he has been fighting for social justice since he was a student. He asserted that he will not go back on the issue of social justice. He assured that he would take care not to do injustice to other BCs, while providing reservations to Kapus. He promised that as long as he is in power, he will see that injustice is not meted out to Kapus.
Naidu said that Justice Manjunath Committee would submit its report soon. After discussing with the cabinet it will be sent to the Centre, he added. He suggested to Kapus not to believe people who are trying to create unnecessary controversies by provoking BCs.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Chinarajappa said that they were demanding for quota in education and jobs and not political reservations. Stating that they would achieve these reservations this year itself, he alleged that Mudragada became a puppet in the hands of ‘one’ political party.
