Naidu Stands By His Word, Gets Social Media Activists Arrested
Amaravati: The warnings of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh against the social media posts have come true finally. The Andhra Pradesh police have arrested one person, Ravikiran, from Hyderabad in the wee hours of Friday, for his postings in facebook against Naidu and son Lokesh.
Ravikiran heads a page – political punch – in the facebook, in which he posts comments and pictures criticising Naidu and his son. There are videos and pictures that project Naidu and Lokesh in bad taste.
Chandrababu Naidu had been warning the people against posting articles, pictures and videos that go against his government or his leadership. The government had also initially planned to bring in a new legislation to keep a check on the social media postings. However, after a careful study of the amendments made in 2015 to the Information Technology Bill 2000, the AP government had acted on the issue and arrested Ravikiran.
Sources said that AP Assembly secretary K Satyanarayana had lodged a complaint with the Thulluru police following which Ravikiran was picked in Hyderabad.
