Nagaraju Murder Case: Police Sought Rs 2 cr, Says IAS Officer
Hyderabad: IAS officer Dharavat Venkateswara Rao, who was in police custody in connection with driver Nagaraju murder case, has alleged that the police framed him with false allegations for refusing to pay Rs 2 crore bribe.
Venkateswara Rao was named accused No 2 in the case. Presently, he was undergoing treatment in a hospital. The IAS officer suffered heart attack on Tuesdaynight when the police arrested him and was shifted to hospital. The police sent Venkateswara Rao’s son Sukruth to the remand.
Speaking to the media at hospital, Venkateswara Rao alleged that one can imagine the situation of the common man in the state as the police arrested an IAS officer. He said that the police framed false charges against him though he has no link with the driver Nagaraju murder case.
He lamented that there was a conspiracy behind the murder case. He said that the Punjagutta CI mounted pressure on him stating that they will clear the case in case he gives Rs 2 crore. He said the police framed charges and arrested him in the case as he refused to give Rs 2 crore.
On the other hand, West Zone DCP Venkateswara Rao has said he was condemning the allegations made by the IAS officer. He said Venkateswara Rao son Sukruth was the main culprit and made it clear that they arrested Venkateswara Rao only after collecting all evidences and interrogating him thoroughly. He said Venkateswara Rao was also a culprit in the murder of Nagaraju. DCP said that action will be taken against Venkateswara Rao for making baseless allegations against the police. (NSS)
