Kakinada: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham tried to commence his Padayatra on Monday.

Mudragada has been trying to launch “Chalo Amaravati “ padayatra for many days.  He was under house arrest, not given permission for the padayatra. Heavy police deployment was made in and around Kirlampudi, and the padayatra was prevented. Since then Mudragada has been trying to begin his yatra and was being prevented by the police.

Mudragada has been demanding reservations for Kapus and listing the community in BC category. As the police prevented Mudragada on Monday and told him that he has no permission for going on a padayatra, Kapu leaders fumed at the government.

The leaders held dharna chanting slogans against AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his government. They also paraded in Kirlampudi with black flags protesting against the government decision.

Mudragada expressed anger for preventing him again. He asked why they were preventing him, though he assured that it would be peaceful. He also asked what kind of permission Naidu took when he launched his padayatra and asked the police to show him the document, so that he too can procure such document.
