Modi Talks Of New India, Thanks Amit Shaw For Big Win
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke of creating new India by 2022. Participating in the victory celebrations at party office here, Modi profusely thanked party president Amit Shaw, the architect of UP electoral triumph. Modi walked a few yards waving to the jubilant supporters after getting down from car. He was showered with flower petals and thunderous slogans rented the air.
Talking to the supporters, Modi said, “I am seeing a new India, the India of the dreams of the youth. A new India that fulfills the aspirations of women. A new India that is about opportunities for the poor….The poor are saying, we want to progress and we seek the opportunity from you.” He described BJP’s massive victory as an opportunity to serve the people.
The PM said the BJP governments would work for all regardless of some people not voting for the party. The BJP had won huge majorities in UP and Uttarakhand. It is forming governments in Goa and Manipur as well. The BJP had won 312 out of 403 seats in UP Assembly. 13 more seats were won by its allies. It is a remarkable victory for Modi after his historic win in 2014 parliamentary elections. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was asked to go to Panaji as chief minister of Goa.
The choice of UP Chief Minister is going to be crucial since it is a very important State which has 80 Lok Sabha seats. Among the probables are: BJP UP unit chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma, Union Minister Manoj Sinha and BJP National secretary Sidharth Nath Singh. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also is likely to be sounded.
