Modi Seeks Suggestions From People For His Independence Day Speech

The Prime Minister wants people to suggest what they think he should be talking about during his forthcoming Independence Day speech, “as it has to be the voice of 125 crore Indians”.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who encourages people to give an idea for his Mann Ki Baat speeches, has this time invited ideas from them for his Independence Day Speech on August 15, 2017.

The Prime Minister’s Office on Monday said that people can send their suggestions and ideas to the special forum on the Narendra Modi APP.

It is a tradition for Prime Ministers to address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the Independence Day on August 15.

“When I address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15th August, I am merely the medium. The voice is of 125 crore Indians. Share your ideas for the speech on 15th August, on the specially created open forum on the NM App.,” the PM tweeted.

“We should celebrate 15th August 2017 as the Sankalp Parva or the Day of Resolve. We have to take a pledge to (make) un-cleanliness, poverty, terrorism, casteism and communalism (quit) India,” the PM underlined in his radio address on Sunday.

He also said that he would keep his Independence Day speech short this time.

Modi pointed out that after his previous speeches on August 15, he faced a complaint of his speeches being a little lengthy. So, this time, he has planned to keep his speech short, around 40 to 50 minutes.
