MLA threatens stir over water diversion
- Kalwakurthy legislator alleges Wanaparthy benefited
Hyderabad: Kalwakurthy MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy has alleged that the TRS government was diverting water to 25,000 acres in Wanaparthy constituency instead of proposed ayacut in Kalwakurthy constituency.
Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall here on Saturday, Vamshichand said that 90 percent of the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project works were completed during Congress Party rule. The TRS government too has said that it would provide water to Kalwakurthy constituency by July 2016. But the same government failed to fulfill its assurance. He said that his aim was to provide irrigation water to every acre in Kalwakurthy constituency. “If not I am failed as an MLA”, he stressed.
Demanding the State Government to tender apologies to the constituency people for not providing water, Vamshichand alleged that the government diverted the water allocated to Kalwakurthy to Wanaparthy constituency with the pressure of State Planning Commission chairman S Niranjan Reddy.
He said that the delay was taking place in providing water to Kalwakurthy because the TRS government failed to construct an aqueduct on Dindi River. He asked the Chief Minister to fulfill his assurance that water would be provided to Kalwakurthy by 2017 by construing a 20 TMCFT of reservoir. “Otherwise, I will launch an agitation against the government along with constituency people”, he warned and made it clear that he was ready to sacrifice anything as an MLA of the constituency. –NSS
