Mining income surpasses target: KTR
Hyderabad: Mines and Geology Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday expressed happiness over unexpected windfall from mining of sand and coal. At a review meeting, he said the mining industry’s half year target has surpassed budgetary expectations.
The mining activity registered an income growth of 69 per cent and sand mining 57 per cent for April-September. Mining of minor minerals fetched Rs 357.41 crores in the same period as against Rs 211.40 crores in the corresponding period last year. Sand fetched Rs 183.7 cr as against Rs 117.14 crores last year.
The minister asked Singareni Collieries Chairman and Managing Director Sridhar to pay immediately the pending coal production royalty of Rs 1000 crores to the government.
He directed the officials to call a meeting of collectors on mining activity and prepare modalities to give incentives to the staff for better income. He vouched for a transparent work culture involving staff to get more revenue through mineral activity and asked the officials to ensure no shortage of sand for construction of houses in the state.
