MCC honorary life membership for Zaheer Khan
- 24th Indian to be honoured with life membership
- 2nd former Indian player after Virender Sehwag in recent weeks
London: Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has honoured retired pace bowler Zaheer Khan with honorary life membership.
Honorary Life Membership is awarded by the MCC Committee to individuals in recognition of the service they have given to the cricket and projects surrounding the game, often over a very long period.
Zaheer played 92 Test matches and 200 ODIs for India. While playing for the country, Zaheer used to be spearhead of pace attack for several years and mentor the inexperienced pace bowlers in the team.
In test matches and ODIs, Zaheer took 311 wickets at 32.94 runs apiece and 282 wickets at an average of 29.34 respectively.
The list of MCC honorary members include legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar and the most recent inclusion to the list is Virender Sehwag.
