Maoists attack CRPF Jawans in Chhattisgarh
- 13 feared dead, injured shifted to hospital
- Ambushed during area domination exercise
- Home Minister condemned the attack
Hyderabad, December 1: Around 13 CRPF personnel are reported to have been killed in a Maoist attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday. A group of around 30 jawans were conducting an area domination exercise in the area for the last 10 days, when they were ambushed near the Chintagufa area. Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack. The naxals allegedly used human shields and shot from an elevation causing maximum casualties for the CRPF. The injured have been shifted to a hospital to be treated. CRPF managed to get the dead bodies back. Post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday. Minister of State Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that the matter will be taken seriously and assured that PM and Home Minister assured that action will be taken. Rajnath Singh said that he spoke to the Chhattisgarh CM Dr Raman Singh and DGP of the state and asked them to monitor the situation. “I express my condolences to the families of our brave CRPF men who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty,” he shared on micro blogging site Twitter.
