Madhukar’s Murder: Parents Approach HC
Hyderabad: Members of Madhukar’s family have filed a petition in High Court on Thursday demanding inquiry by a sitting judge. They also demanded re-examination, autopsy, of the body. The petitioners urged the court to convert the nature of the case from suicide to homicide.
It may be recalled that a Dalit youth, Madhukar, was found dead a week ago at Khanapur village in Manthani mandal of Peddapalli district. He was in love with a girl who belongs to a BC community. The general suspicion is that it was a murder committed by the girl’s relatives The police have been investigating the case treating it as suicide.
Thousands of Dalit activists had demonstrated at Ambedkar crossroads in Manthani on Sunday protesting against the cold-blooded murder of Madhukar. Dalit activists from Centre for Dalit Studies met Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Wednesday demanding proper investigation.
Ramagundam Police Commissioner Vikramjit Duggal took a serious view of the case and visited Khanapur on Tuesday.
He met the parents of the deceased. Manthani CI Prabhakar was attached to the headquarters thus shifting him from the scene. Peddapalli ACC Sindhu Sharma is investigating the case independently. Naresh Goud was posted as Manthani CI in place of Prabhakar. Soon after taking charge Naresh Goud has taken the six persons suspected by the parents of Madhukar into custody. All the six persons are close relatives of the girl who was in love with Madhukar.
