‘Life Skills Studio’ scheme in govt. schools
Hyderabad: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) has begun another novel concept with the introduction of ‘Life Skills Studio’.
In each school, a Life Skill Studio will be established which will have a dining table, bed, cot, table, chair, a set of plates, cutlery, wardrobe, dressing table, etc. The children will be trained in basic etiquettes, table manners, communication skills, personal hygiene, personal grooming, telephone etiquettes and so on. This initiative is first of its kind in the government education sector in India.
The programme was initiated to ignite the minds of the poor students from rural background to think big and aim high life, said Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TSWREIS, while inaugurating the scheme at Narsingi school.
He thanked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Minister for Scheduled Castes Development G Jagadish Reddy for their support to the innovative initiatives being taken up by the Society. Suma and Anil Vasudevan from A CUBE Services conducted classes for select teachers, who in turn would train the students in their respective schools.
