LED bulbs in cities, towns by Ugadi

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao has set a deadline for officials to see that LED bulbs are fixed in all cities and towns by Ugadi festival.  

During a high-level meeting, KTR directed the officials on Thursday to set up more nurseries to push ahead the flagship programme of Haritha Haram in cities and towns. With regard to LED bulbs in the cities and towns, he sought a report department- wise in 15 days. He directed that the cities and towns should be made free from the problem of open defecation by next May.

The officials should coordinate at all levels to reach this goal besides focusing on green drive as chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to expand forest area. Taking a few steps at this direction, we have achieved the target of seeing some qualitative change like drinking water, clean and green drive by involving people, KTR claimed.

GHMC to install e-toilets

Meanwhile, as part of clean and green and making Hyderabad city garbage-free, GHMC has taken measures to introduce e-toilets in the city.

GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said 15 e-toilets would be installed at different places by January 26 next year. This project is being sponsored by State Bank of India and Indian Oil Corporation.

An e-toilet for women costs Rs 7.30 lakh each, while it is Rs 6.35 lakhs for men. Use of e-toilets is easy. There will be a display light outside the facility which shows whether the unit is occupied or not with red and green indicator lights.

The user can enter by inserting a coin in case of pay per use e-toilet. Upon entering the toilet, indoor lights will be switched on automatically, pre-flush system will wet the closet initially, Toilet flush can be activated using a manual flush cock provided inside the toilet, Even if the user forgets the flush after usage, the system will automatically flush after the exit.

Rs 5 meal centre at Bag Amberpet

Deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin inaugurated Rs5 meal centre at Bag Amberpet,   a constituency of BJP leader G Kishen Reddy,  who  also attended the programme. Later Kishan reddy inaugurated a modern gym at Pochamma basti in Bag Amberpet accompanied by deputy mayor. -NSS
