KTR asks Mallesham to prepare report on revitalizing handloom sector in Telangana
Hyderabad: Information Technology and Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao has felicitated Padmasri awardee Chintakindi Mallesham for his services in handloom sector.
After getting Padmasri, Mallesham called on the minister at Secretariat here on Thursday and the latter offered him all help and support. On the occasion, KTR said Mallesham’s services are inspirational for rural inventors. He also promised that the government would extend all cooperation to Mallesham to further use extensively the “Asu machines” in the handloom sector.
The State government is pushing ahead with its plan to encourage rural innovation and social innovation, KTR said. Job and employment opportunities in rural areas will increase when research gets a push, he said. KTR also asked Mallesham to come up with a detailed report of recommendations and instructions on changes in handloom sector, use of modern technology, marketing opportunities and others. He also asserted that the State government will take steps to strengthen the handloom sector to provide more employment opportunities and empower weavers economically.
