KTPS jobs for locals only: KTR
- Hits out at opposition for vilification campaign
Hyderabad: Telangana Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao has stated that priority will be given to locals for jobs in Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS). He also said efforts will be made to establish a mining university in Khammam district which is rich in mineral resources.
Taking part in development programmes and inspecting 7th phase of works of KTPS at Palvancha in Khammam district on Monday along with Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao, MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and others, KTR said efforts would be made to set up an airport and skill development center in the town. He ridiculed the opposition parties for taking up padayatras, Palle Nidra and protest programmes against the state government.
The minister charged Congress, Telugu Desam and CPM with resorting to mud-slinging at the government for political gain. They must stop witch-hunting the government, which is giving top priority to welfare programmes and spending Rs 4,500 crore on them, he said.
“Like no other state in the country, our Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was extending all support to the SC, ST, BC and minorities to benefit them from the welfare schemes and completing pending projects”, he remarked.
Tummala Nageswar Rao asserted that Kothagudem will become No 1 district if it makes use of available natural resources. The state government will make use of available resources and give safe drinking water to every household in Kothagudem district by spending Rs 4,500 crores. Steps have already been taken to irrigate crops in the district through completion of Sitharama lift irrigation scheme, he added.
