Krishna Dt. set to immunize 3.77 lakh kids
Amaravati: Krishna district administration is geared up for the next round of pulse polio scheduled to be held on January 29. District Collector Babu Ahmad has instructed the administration to immunize 377,325 children below the age of 5 years on Sunday (today).
The district administration has opened 2,560 pulse polio booths in the State spread over 81 primary health centers, five municipalities and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation in the district. The district collector said that they have engaged 1,911 staff and officers from the medical and health department, 3,812 staff from the Integrated Child Development Scheme, 2,924 Asha workers and 2,301 other volunteers to execute the programme. The staff would immunize the children throughout the day on January 29, he said.
The district collector further said that the staff would go to the identified houses across the district on January 30 and 31 and ensure that the children below the age of 5 years are immunized. The house-to-house immunization would be conducted in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation on February 1, he added.
Babu Ahmad has also asked the staff to ensure that the immunization is connected with Aadhaar number of the family head. Earlier on Saturday, the collector flagged off a rally in the city to create awareness among the people on pulse polio.
Vijayawada Mayor Koneru Sridhar, district nodal officer Nagamalleswari, Y Kameswara Prasad, deputy DMHOs Dr Sobha and Dr Seethamma and other staff were present.
