Kodela reviews security for Women Parliament Convention
Amaravati: Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao reviewed the security arrangements for the three-day Women Parliament Convention to be held from February 10. The venue for the prestigious event, Pavitra Sangamam at Ibrahimpatnam, is getting ready as the officials are busy making arrangements.
A special helipad is being readied for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is scheduled to inaugurate the convention. The other guests like Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama, are also being readied, as they are likely to be present on the first day.
AP DGP N Sambasiva Rao briefed the Speaker about the security arrangements at the venue and the additional security arrangements made for the guests. He said that they would issue Identity Cards for all the participants. Vehicles are also being arranged for the participants to reach the venue from the places of accommodation.
Krishna district Collector Babu Ahmad told the Speaker that they have identified 200 places, including star hotels, in Vijayawada city for the accommodation of the participants and the guests too. He further said that 40 multi disciplinary teams have been set in place to assist the guests, participants and the special invitees. He added that they are identifying the woman and student volunteers to assist the guests and participants during the three days.
Vijayawada Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang told the Speaker that special care is taken to provide parking slots at the venue. Additional staff is posted at the parking slots for the participants and guests. The parking for the special invitees would also have special personnel to regulate the vehicles.
The venue is brought under the strict vigil of the police who are using CC TVs and drones to keep a watch on the movements of the participants and guests.
