‘King’ KCR Goes To Lord Balaji With Ornaments
Hyderabad: None of the prime ministers of India or chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh had the style and courage of Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) who has left here for Tirupati on Tuesday afternoon. KCR’s latest thanksgiving trip to Tirumala is going to cost the exchequer Rs 5.6 crore. History books give a glimpse of Krishna Devaraya’s glory. The KCR’s king-size heart and mind made it possible for him to travel with members of his family and his Cabinet in two special aircraft to Tirupati to have darshan of Lord Balaji to fulfil the vow he had taken during the movement for separate Telanagana State. He had taken a pledge to give ornaments to various gods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana if he succeeded in his mission.
KCR and his wife are expected to present pure gold ornaments to Lord Balaji and a nose-stud to Goddess Padmavati, the revered deities of Tirumala. Earlier, a crown and necklace was presented to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala and nose stud to goddess Kanaka Durga on Indrakeeladri hill at Vijayawada. In October last, KCR had presented a 12 kg gold crown worth Rs 3.5 crore to goddess Bhadrakali at Warangal. He will also present golden mustaches to Veerabhadraswamy at Kuravi in Warnagal district later this week. Ever since Telangana State was formed on 2 June 2014, State government has picked up the bills to keep the pledge of the chief minister to offer gold ornaments to various gods and goddesses in both the Telugu speaking States. A 3-member committee was set up to oversee the making of the ornaments. A prominent jeweller of Telangana was commissioned to do the job.
KCR had conducted a yagnyam (havan) in December 2015 in which crores of rupees were spent with hundred of Sanskrit scholar chanting slokas. He recently moved into a new palatial bungalow which was constructed as the official residence of the chief minister at a cost of more than Rs 100 crore. It was officially stated that the cost of building was some Rs 35 core. If the cost of the furniture and interiors was included it would be more than double the amount.
Beside the family members and cabinet ministers, many MLAs and other important functionaries of the TRS had accompanied the chief minister in the copters.
