Kesineni takes initiative to provide safe drinking water to Vijayawada
Amaravati: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas held a meeting with the elected representatives of the city to plan and provide safe drinking water for the people round the clock. The MP said that his mission was to ensure drinking water 24×7 for the people of the city including those residing on the outskirts and the hillocks.
Legislators Gadde Ramamohan Rao, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Jaleel Khan, MLC Buddha Venkanna, Mayor Koneru Sridhar and deputy mayor Gogula Ramana and representatives of AP and Tamil Nadu infrastructure corporations were present.
The MP said that they would take four divisions from each Assembly constituency in the city on a pilot basis and give them drinking water round the clock. The selection of the divisions would start from March and the people would get the protected drinking water 24 hours from December 2018, he said.
This would require replacement of the existing drinking water pipelines which are 40 years old and are damaged at several places. The MP said that they would study the replacement of the pipelines after a thorough study of the drinking water management and supply in the city.
The Andhra Pradesh Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Limited chief executive officer Prakash Gaur, Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company limited director K Ashok Natarajan, vice-presidents of AP Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Limited, Sanjeev Patil and Rajesh were present at the meeting.
The legislators thanked the MP for taking up the initiative to provide 24×7 drinking water in the city. They also thanked the MP for involving the prestigious Tata Trust for development of infrastructure in 246 villages and taking up the construction of flyover at Kanakadurga Temple.
