KCR’s U-Turn On Sept 17
- Amit Shaw To Visit WL
Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) has gone back on his own demand that September 17 should be celebrated as Liberation Day. As the head of the 13 year-long separate Telangana State movement, KCR vociferously demanded that Sept 17 should be treated as Liberation Day. This has been the argument of the BJP for long.
It was 17 September 1948 that Nizam if Hyderabad surrendered to Union Home Minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. By then the Indian army defeated the Razakars led by Khasim Razvi. Though it was an occasion to celebrate, the Congress governments did not take cognisance of the historic day. This was evidently the fear of distancing the Muslims that made the government’s to ignore the day. The TRS leadership has to explain its u-turn on this issue.
The BJP has been working hard to organise a big public meeting at Warangal on Saturday. BJP president Amit Shaw is expected to address the meeting.
