KCR urges fast tracking of Water Grid works
- Scheme to be launched at Munugodu mandal in Nalgonda district
- 100 litres to every person is the target: KTR
Hyderabad, January 4: Chief Minster K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the officials concerned to take up on war-footing the works related to Telangana Water Grid across the State. The Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting with officials at Grand Kakatiya Hotel here.
Speaking on the occasion, KCR asked the officials to coordinate to implement the ambitious water grid project. The project is aimed at providing safe and pure drinking water to every household in three years, he said. KCR also said the officials will be provided with all necessary equipment and funds to take forward the program to be fructified, he felt. “Let us work together to implement the scheme successfully to ensure that people get rid of water borne diseases”, he said.
Briefing mediapersons later, IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said the scheme will be formally launched at Munugodu mandal in Nalgonda district by the Chief Minister. Since Nalgonda is synonymous for fluorosis problem, the Chief Minister will begin the program soon by unveiling a pylon, he said, adding that date will be announced later. “Since the Godavari and the Krishna rivers pass through the State, we can transform Telangana into a place abundant with water resources”, KTR said. The Government has plans to tackle the water woes easily by amply utilizing these waters, he said. “Our target is to supply at least 100 liters to every person of a household everyday”, he maintained. Municipalities will get major share of waters for disseminating safe and potable drinking waters, he added. (NSS)
