Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao who is supposed to offer the pearls and pattu clothes to the presiding deities of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district on the occasion of Sitarama Kalyanam- has sent his grandson -Himanshu to the divine wedding. It is a general practice since the days of Tanisha of 16th century to send pearls as talambralu to the Kalyanam and whoever is the ruler- has been following this norm till now. KCR, for unspecified reasons, did not turn up for the all important divine wedding- which is performed on Chaitra Suddha Navami every year.
The boy Himanshu has offered the pattu vastralu and talambralu to the deities. But since it is protocol to offer only by the rulers, Deputy Chief Minister Kadium Srihari, Endowments ministers A Indrakaran Reddy and local minister T Nageshwara Rao have performed duty of offerings on behalf of the government and CM. Himanshu was cynosure at the kalyana mantapam and the temple priests vied with each other to take the pearls from the boy who offered them on behalf of his family.
