KCR lays stone for 600 MW plant in Adilabad district
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for setting up of third unit of 600 MW power plant at Pegadapally near Jaipur in Adilabad district on Tuesday. The mega power project is being taken up by Singareni Collieries which aims to complete it in three years.
On successful completion, the project will cater to power needs of Telangana where the government is leaving no stone unturned to overcome the power crisis. KCR visited a photo exhibition of the works completed so far by the Singareni Collieries. Later at a meeting with Singareni Collieries Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar, the Chief Minister discussed the progress of various works and directed officials to expedite them so that the power plant is ready by 2018.
Participating in other programmes, KCR said the Government was giving top priority to providing adequate power to agriculture and industries. There would be no disruption of power supply to these two sectors which were imperative for the State’s growth. “Though we may face power shortfall for a short while, the problem will not persist for long’ he remarked.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the state would generate additional power from other plants as per the stipulated plans and ensure uninterrupted power supply for 12 hours to the agriculture sector in 2017. (NSS)
