KCR deliberately mum on HC division, says Ponnam
HYDERABAD: Former MP of the Congress Ponnam Prabhakar has criticized the TRS leadership for ignoring the plight of advocates seeking a separate High Court for Telangana as it was eager to get a berth in the Union Cabinet.
Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, he alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was eyeing a berth in the Union Cabinet, was unable to speak against the Centre though the Union Budget did not allocate adequate funds to Telangana. KCR failed to exert pressure on the Centre on bifurcation of the apex court in the state, he charged. Though the advocates were protesting for bifurcation of the High Court, the state government was least bothered.
The Congress leader also found fault with the BJP for doing injustice to Telangana in this regard. The advocates should defeat MLC candidates of the TRS and BJP in the elections if they failed to meet their demands, he said.
Mr. Prabhakar called upon the advocates who are taking up a Chalo Secretariat on Wednesday, to simultaneously lay siege to the TRS and BJP offices. Referring to appointment of former minister Uttam Kumar Reddy as TPCC chief replacing P Lakshmaiah, he welcomed the AICC’s decision. (NSS)
