Kavitha’s remark against Rahul draws Cong fire; all credit to dad TDP ire

Hyderabad:  Nizamabad MP and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister KCR, K Kavitha, was at the receiving end on Thursday in the hands of both Congress and TDP for her remarks against  AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi  and claim that KCR alone fought for separate State.

Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar said on Thursday Kavitha’s remarks against Rahul Gandhi show her mean politics. Kavitha had called him ‘Rudal Gandhi’ at Bhoiguda Railway Court on Wednesday.

In a statement, Ponnam said Rahul Gandhi has every right to speak face-to-face with Osmania University students to bring their problems to the notice of the State government. But Kavitha’s family was chanting Osmania University’s centenary celebrations as their family celebrations and giving an impression that the Congress was against the OU celebrations.

He also alleged that the TRS was afraid of Rahul Gandhi, who was going to speak to the Osmania University students. It was bad on the part of Kavitha to let loose her tongue against Rahul Gandhi while her father and Chief Minister was planning to organize the OU festival with participation of all political parties and students of all universities.

Ponnam warned Kavitha of dire consequences from Youth Congress and NSUI activists if she continues to let loose her tongue at Gandhi family once again in future.

Dharna against remark: Mahila Congress activists staged a dharna against Kavitha’s outburst against Rahul Gandhi. They took out a rally with Kavitha’s effigy hitting it with chappals. Speaking to the media later, Mahila Congress chief Nerella Sharada said that Kavitha was criticizing Rahul Gandhi forgetting her status. Sharada wondered whether she was a male or female. Asking Kavitha to understand the meaning of ‘Rudali’, Sharada warned Kavitha that the latter would face dire consequences if she speaks recklessly.

TTDP resents Kavitha’s claim

Meanwhile, taking strong exception to Kavitha’s comment that only KCR had played major role for separate Telangana State, TDP Telangana State women’s wing president Bandru Shobharani said before formation of TRS, various organizations, poets, artistes, journalists and others had agitated for separate State. Kavitha should read history of Telangana movement, Shobharani said.  Speaking to the media at NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, Shobharani said even former finance minister Chidambaram of UPA government had acknowledged that Chandrababu Naidu had written a letter to the Centre supporting separate Telangana State. The TDP leader asked Kavitha to give an explanation as to why KCR failed to give any representation to women in his cabinet though the State has 50% women population. –NSS
