Kaleshwaram waters to flow by Dec 2017
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government is all to set to clinch a record in Asia by constructing the prestigious Kaleshwaram project in one year. The project is supposed to be completed on time to give waters by December 2017 as per a plan.
This was stated by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao at a review meeting held at Jala Saudha in Hyderabad. The minister set a deadline of one year for completion of the project and release waters to crops in December next year. Stating that the project was a challenge and the officials should step up efforts to complete land acquisition on priority basis to make true the dream of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The irrigation works will be video recorded by connecting Jala Saudha and Kaleshwaram project and the works progress will be made online, he said, adding that there was no dearth of funds and the works should be expedited. The officials were instructed to call tenders for Mallanna Sagar project and a special meeting will be called on November 10.
He said the state government departments and executing agencies should coordinate with each other to complete the project with a focus on land acquisition. He reiterated the state government’s resolve to irrigating one crore acres over five years.
