Kaleshwaram-Sirooncha Bridge opened

Hyderabad: The much-awaited Kaleshwaram-Sirooncha Bridge connecting Telangana State with Maharashtra was opened on Friday.

Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao inaugurated the bridge, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 242 crores with Central assistance. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Telangana Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and others attended the event. Work on the 1620-metre long bridge started in 2011 and completed now.

The Centre provided Rs 242 crores for completing the bridge that will improve connectivity between the two neighbouring States.   The bridge was built on Godavari River at Kaleshwaram under Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalapally district (Karimnagar previously). The State Government is planning to develop the new bridge as a tourist spot by promoting greenery and providing all facilities. -NSS
