Joint meet to discuss AP power tariff structure
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has convened a joint meeting of State Advisory Committee (SAC) and State Coordination Forum (SCF) for the cause of electricity consumers in Tirupati on October 26.
The meeting will discuss ways and means of simplifying the electricity tariff structure and reduce the number of tariff categories for the benefit of around 1.5 crore electricity consumers in Andhra Pradesh.
Right from the load forecast to power procurement and distribution plans to capacity addition, management of surplus power without backing down of generating units to ensuring financial health of the power distribution companies (Discoms), the high-level meeting will look into various other issues such as grid integration and stability, and come out with a road map for the benefit of consumers.
APERC Chairman Justice Bhavani Prasad reviewed the agenda with top officials concerned. APERC has also been closely monitoring implementation of UDAY scheme and has already rolled out a blue print to bail out Discoms from losses, while reviewing compliance of timeline of targeted activities to be accomplished by the distribution companies under the scheme. These issues will be discussed in detail during the proposed meeting, revealed Justice Bhavani Prasad.
