JD (U) Passes Resolution To Sail With The NDA
Patna: While JD (U) led by rebel leader Sharad Yadav’s three-day deliberations with opposition leaders closes, rival faction headed by Nitish Kumar on Saturday passed a resolution to join National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
It may be recalled that Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Nitish to join NDA a few day ago. Now, officially the resolution was passed in the national executive committee meeting at party president and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence.
With this the split in the party has become inevitable.
Meanwhile, loyalists of Sharad Yadav have organized Jan Adalat programme at SK Memorial Hall. They too were against JD (U) joining hands with the BJP.
The meetings are only making it obvious that JD (U) is heading for a vertical split.
Earlier, the party decided to hold its national executive in Delhi on July 23-24. But the date was changed after the developments and the venue was shifted to Patna.
Poster war emerged with one saying, “Jan Adalat ka Faisla … Mahagatbandhan Jaari hain (Jan Adalat’s decision … The Grand Alliance is continuing)”. These posters carry photographs of Sharad Yadav, JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Ali Anwar Ansari and former State Minister Ramai Ram, who was suspended by Bihar JD(U) Chief Basistha Narayan Singh.
As the JD (U) returns to the NDA fold, its imminent that the MPs will soon be inducted into the union cabinet. Speculations are that Nitish is asked to take the responsibility of NDA as co-convener. Presently Nitish’s faction has two MPs in the Lok Sabha and seven out of its nine Rajya Sabha MPs
