Jaya’s Death To Be Probed: OPS
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said the death of Amma (former chief minister J.Jayalalithaa) would be investigated.
“I was not allowed to see Amma at the hospital. Only Sasikala was seeing her,” he said. There are doubts about the way Amma died. In order to clear the doubts, the government would order a probe, he averred. The CM said a sitting judge would conduct the probe. The Apollo doctors have conclusively rejected the conspiracy theory.
OPS complained that he was forced to submit his resignation. Talking to the electronic media, he said he would prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly. He told the media that he has been talking to the AIADMK MLAs.
In the meanwhile, Governor Rao has stayed put in Mumbai. He is not in a hurry to travel to Chennai.
According to reliable sources, only 80 MLAs had attended the meeting organised by Sasikala. They are being shifted to Poes Garden. The MLAs supporting Sasikala may travel to Delhi to meet President Pranab Mukherjee to request him to instruct the governor to conduct swearing-in. Rashtrapati Bhavan has received a request from the AIADMK party for an audience.
The MLAs are being organised into a camp. Sasikala said probe into Jaya’s death is unwarranted.
Dr Shankar, who treated Jayalalithaa, said he was not called when the chief minister was unwell. The doctor said Jaya was using steroids for a long time and that Jaya was very healthy in June 2016. The doctor hinted that some unnecessary drugs might have landed Jaya in hospital. Dr MN Shankar is an acupuncture specialist.
