Jagan’s Rythu Deeksha From May 1

The Rythu Deeksha at Guntur will highlight the failure of Telugu Desam Party government in protecting the interests of chilli and turmeric farmers. Opposition Leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who once held a Deeksha for SCs in Guntur will take up for farmers this time.

Guntur: The Rythu Deeksha announced by YSRCP will take place on May 1 and 2 at Chuttugunta centre near mirchi yard in the city. The party president and Opposition Leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will take up the Deeksha on Wirkers’ Day. The party is striving hard to make it a success and is making elaborate arrangements.

The senior leaders of the party who are overseeing the arrangements visited the venue on Saturday. YSRCP senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana, MLA Mohammad Mustafa, MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, State secretary L Appireddy, district president Marri Rajasekhar inspected the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that the ruling Telugu Desam Party failed to protect the interests of chilli farmers. They criticised that the prices of chillies have drastically come down- while it was Rs 14,000 per quintal last year, this year it was just Rs. 4,000. They said that the government has to intervene and take measures to avert losses to the farmers.
Saying that the provision of compensation of Rs 1500 per quintal with several riders, and that too for a maximum of 20 quintals, would not benefit farmers in any way, they called for more action from the government. They alleged that the State government has come up with Chandranna Rythu scheme very late and Rs 50 crores sanctioned for implementation is too little.

They claimed that the Rythu Deeksha of Jagan will highlight the failure of Chief Minister Naidu in protecting the interests of chilli and turmeric farmers, hit by the fall in the market prices.
