Jagan talks to capital farmers, blames CM on land pooling

  • Reiterates to return lands to farmers
  • Says his govt would limit lands only for govt buildings

Amaravati: Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy went ahead with his scheduled tour of the capital villages despite restrictions from the police. He interacted with the farmers and the farm labourers who have been opposing land pooling by the government for the capital.

Jaganmohan Reddy reiterated his promise that his government would return the lands to the owners and retain only those lands that are required for construction of the government offices and residential quarters. He said his party was opposed to the land pooling by force which had displaced thousands of people in the capital villages. He also blamed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for distributing the lands to the private and corporate companies on his whims and fancies.

The YSR Congress chief also took a dig at Chief Minister for residing in an illegal building on the banks of river Krishna. He said as Leader of Opposition, he would reside only in a legally-constructed building. He alleged that the Chief Minister was doing real estate business with the lands of the farmers and playing corporate politics with the people.

Referring to the TDP’s election promise of job for every house, Jaganmohan Reddy said that the TDP had come to power by promising jobs, loan waiver and security for women. However, the TDP chief had failed to fulfil his promises, he said and wanted people to get ready to send Babu back if they wanted jobs. On the government giving plot allotment letters to the farmers in return of their lands, he wondered what value those letters has when there is no value for the promises made in the election manifesto.

The YSR Congress chief alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was not leaving even the poor and was taking away their lands in the name of capital. He said that the government had failed to complete the master plan for the city in two-and-a-half years and wondered whether it could do it in the next half of this term. He said that Chandrababu Naidu would spend the remaining part of his term with the foreign tours and false promises. He wanted the people to be cautious about the false promises of Chandrababu Naidu in the next elections.

Jaganmohan Reddy took a dig at the TDP government for roping in every nation to build the new capital. He also wondered why Chandrababu Naidu wanted to have film directors to create the capital.
