Jagan Demands Jobs For Youth
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded that the State government pay unemployment allowance to the unemployed persons with retrospective effect. Reddy wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday reminding him of his election promise to provide one lakh jobs failing which he would see that an unemployment allowance of RS 2,000 is paid to each individual every month.
Since the government has completed 33 months of tenure each unemployed youth should be paid Rs 66,000 and a provision of RS 1.15 lakh crore has to be made in 2017-18 budget that is going to be presented in the second week of March. YS Jagan reminded the people of the slogan that was popularised during elections in 2014 through advertisements in TV. The slogan was ‘Job raavaalantee Babu raavaali’ (Babu should come to power if you have to get a job).
He has been speaking at the meetings attended by the youth (‘Yuva Bheri’). Instead of creating jobs for the youth the chief minister was responsible for loss of jobs due to closure of a number of industries and failure in farming. The TDP said in its election manifesto promised one job for each and every family.
In the wake of the rallies taken out by the TJAC in Hyderabad despite heavy police repression, the youth in AP are planning to mobilise support for a movement to bring pressure on the government to implement the election promise. The Opposition leader threatened the government that if jobs are not created and unemployment allowance is not paid YSRCP would chart out an action programme.
