Jagan Dares Chandrababu To Get 21 MLAs Quit
Amaravati: Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday dared Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to make the 21 legislators who have defected to the party to quit and go for elections.
Interacting with the media persons in the Assembly lobbies, Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had mastered the art of purchasing voters, be it general voters or the elected representatives. He took light of the party’s defeat in the three MLC elections held in Nellore, Kurnool and Kadapa districts. He alleged that the TDP chief had purchased the representatives of the local bodies in the three districts to win the MLC elections. He said that the YSR Congress had not contested the local body elections in Chittoor, Ananthapur, Srikakulam, West Godavari and East Godavari districts and left the seats to the TDP. The YSR Congress had contested the three MLC seats in Nellore, Kurnool and Kadapa because the party has clear majority in the three districts, he said and alleged that the TDP had purchased the YSR Congress leaders representing the local bodies.
While reacting to the ruling party’s claims over the MLC victory, Jaganmohan Reddy dared Chandrababu Naidu to get the 21 legislators resigned and go for fresh elections. He said his party would take the election results as referendum on the State government’s popularity, if TDP won all the 21 seats. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had turned politics into a costly affair by purchasing elected representatives right from the mandal parishad to the Assembly and Parliament. While stating that the MLC elections did not reflect the peoples’ support for the party, he asserted that the people would teach a fitting lesson to Chandrababu Naidu in the 2019 elections.
