- They do not follow preaching of holy book, he shared
- NIA to do Narco test on Arif
Mumbai, December 1: Arif Majeed, one of the four youth from Kalyan who left Mumbai to join ISIS was believed to have been dead until he came back to India on Friday. He was arrested on his arrival and is being investigated by NIA.
According to the investigative agency, he claimed that he was injured and was left unattended for three days and only after he begged his seniors, he was admitted into a hospital two months back. And not knowing this, his friends had assumed he was killed and called his home. He further said that he was disillusioned by ISIS who claimed that they fight holy war but do not follow Quran. They rape women, he said. Apparently he was given a menial job of cleaning the toilet and though he and his friends were given training to use AK47, they were never involved in war because Indians are considered weak.
He further disclosed names of local contacts who provided him with details and logistics of joining ISIS. NIA is corroborating his claims. The agency is also going to do a Narco test on Arif and use scientific methods to establish if he is telling the truth.
Arif Majeed was earlier, booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and was charged for conspiring to commit a terrorist act and being a member of a banned foreign terror outfit. He was also charged under Section 125 of the IPC, for “waging war against the nation”.
