Indrakaran To Visit Delhi For Central Funds
Hyderabad: Stating that the State government would mount pressure on the Union Urban & Rural Development Minister for additional funds, Minister for Endowments & Housing A Indrakaran Reddy has said they will go to Delhi soon to meet the Central Ministers in this regard.
Indrakaran Reddy has conducted a review meeting with the Housing Department special chief secretary Chitra Ramachandran, Housing CE Eshwaraiah at Secretariat here on Friday in the wake of Chief Minister’s direction to study the central budget deeply and to prepare proposals for the state budget. In the meeting, they discussed as to how much comes to the state from the centre to the Housing Construction department.
The officials explained that the centre will give Rs.23,000 crore for the construction of houses in rural areas under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yozana scheme and
Rs.6043 crores to the houses constructed in urban areas and a total of Rs.29043 crore to the states. They also discussed on how much amount would come to Telangana state from the total amount. They estimated that the state will get Rs.367crore for the construction of houses in rural areas and Rs.400 crore for the construction of houses in urban areas and a total of Rs.767crore will come to state and the officials informed Minister that they prepared proposals to follow suit.
The Minister further informed that the Endowment Department would seek funds from the centre for the Sammakka and Saralamma Jathara. The Minister said that they will urge the Centre to allocate funds to the Jathara considering it as an event of national importance. He also said that he would request the centre to allocate funds for the restoration and development of temples. The Minister also discussed with the officials the ways and means of procuring central funds. The Endowment department secretary Shiva Shanker and other officials participated in the review meeting.
