Washington (DC): An Indian physician, Dr. Ramesh Kumar, was found dead in a car in Detroit, Michigan. He was 32.

Kumar is the third Indian American to be killed in just 24 hours. A techie couple was killed in San Jose on Wednesday night.

The police found Kumar’s body in the passenger seat in his car at a rest area on the highway, a few hours after they received a complaint from Kumar’s father, Dr Narendra Kumar, a former president of the American Association of Indian Origin or AAIO.

On Thursday, when Dr Mani Menon, Ramesh’s colleague, called Narendra about his son not showing up at Henry Ford Hospital, where Ramesh was a resident in urology, Narendra tried to contact his son.

After multiple calls and texts to his son’s phone had gone unanswered, Narendra headed to his son’s apartment. Finding the apartment empty, he alerted police, who wanted him to wait since his son had been missing only for a few hours.

The police found Ramesh’s car at 5 pm on Thursday, and by 10:30 pm the body was identified. An autopsy was conducted on Friday.

The family doesn’t think it was a hate crime, as per reports. The private funeral service will be held on Monday.
