India wins 3rd ODI

Mahali: Star batsman Virat Kohli and Captain MS Dhoni had helped India beat New Zealand easily in the third ODI here on Sunday. Kohli’s brilliant unbeaten 154 enabled India to win over New Zealand by seven wickets. India lead New Zealand in the five ODI series by 2-1.

While Kohli had made 154 runs in 134 balls, Captain Dhoni had hit 80 out of 91 balls. The captains of one-day matches and five-day format together hit up 151 runs off 163 balls. India ended its innings by scoring 289 runs. Dhoni came to bat earlier than usual by upgrading himself in the batting order and it paid dividends. The visitors made a mess of their batting in the beginning before Jimmy Neesham (57) and Matt Henry (39) came up with a 84-run stand for the ninth wicket to build a respectable total. New Zealand’s total was 285 runs.
