India win Test series against England 3-0 in great style
Mumbai: Virat Kohli, Indian cricket captain, has posted yet another highly impressive win over England in his illustrious account at Wankhade stadium here on Monday, the final day of the fourth Test.
Ace spinner Ravichandran Aswin has polished the England’s tail by claiming all the four remaining wickets in the second innings on Monday morning. India has registered a resounding win by an innings and 36 runs thus clinching the five-match Test series by 3-0.
The last match is to be played at Chennai on December 16. The first match had ended in a draw. India remained unbeaten in 17 Tests and Kohli has won 13 Tests as a Test skipper. He was declared Man of the Match for his stellar contribution of 235 runs in the only innings India played here.
India has bounced back into the fourth Test after being reduced to 307/6 at one stage lagging behind England by 93 runs in the first innings. While Kohli made a double century and Murali Vijay had hit a solid 136 runs, bowler Jayant Yadav came up with a well-made 104 run. India had piled up a whopping 631 runs in the first innings against England’s first innings total of 400.
Adil Rasheed who bowled more than 55 overs was the most successful bowler with four wickets for 192 runs, not a flattering run rate though. In England’s second innings the visitors were all out for a measly 195 runs conceding a huge win for India.
Aswin took five wickets and Ravindra Jadeja accounted for two scalps. Bhuvaneswar Kumar and Jayant claimed one each. Joe Root and Jonny Baistow had made respectable scores of 77 and 51 runs. India has thus established an unquestioned superiority in all departments of the game. In the fourth match Aswin was the star bowler with 12 wickets, six in each innings followed by Ravindra Jadeja with 6.
