India thrash NZ to clinch series win
Visakhapatnam: India playing New Zealand in the one day international here gave a perfect Deepavali gift to cricket fans on Saturday: A 190-run victory in the final that sealed the series win with 3-2. It was spinners’ day as Amit Mishra produced magic to claim 5 for 18 to bring Black Caps to their lowest-ever total against India. India scored 269 for six with Rohit Sharma (70) and Virat Kohli (65) hitting half centuries.
The target India set for New Zealanders seemed unreachable as they were all out at 79 in 23.1 overs. What was pathetic was five NZ batsmen proved themselves dummies as they could not score a single run. In a scenario in which NZ lost eight wickets in a space of 51 balls, there was no hope of visitors getting back into game.
