India Fights Back With 129/1 Against Aussies 451

Ranchi: India fought back on the second day of the third cricket Test here impressively. Indians were 120/1 at stumps on Friday evening against Australia’s first innings total of 451 runs. Aussie skipper Steve Smith’s unbeaten 178 runs made the huge total possible.

Opener KL Rahul (67) and Murali Vijay out on 91-run partnership Australian bowler Pat Cummings claimed Rahul’s wicket. Rahul has made 67 runs. India’s captain Virat Kohli has shoulder injury. He has been off the field since Thursday afternoon. Vijay with 42 runs and Cheteshwar Pujara (10) were at the crease

Resuming at the innings at the overnight score of 299/4, Smith and Maxwell have put up a 191-run partnership. Opener Matt Renshaw has hit 44 runs. Middle order batsman Glen Maxwell has made 104 runs. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed his eighth 5-wicket haul in his 29th Test. He gave away 124 runs in the bargain. The second best Indian bowler is Umesh Yadav who took three wickets for 106 runs. The 4-match series for Border-Gavaskar Trophy is equally poised at 1-1. The Trophy is with Australia.
