India, a model republic in the world: KCR
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has conveyed his Republic Day greetings to the people of the State.
“Our country has become an inspiration to successful working of democracy and a model republic in the world. Every citizen in Telangana State should rededicate himself for strengthening and protecting the democratic and republic spirit of our nation”, he said.
More power to State
Meanwhile, D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD/TSGenco & TSTransco, said Telangana has become a fast happening State in power sector under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking after hoisting the Tricolour at Vidyut Soudha on the occasion of the 68th Republic Day on Thursday, Prabhakar Rao said the State government has introduced ambitious programmes for supplying immediate power to industries under TS-iPASS Policy, nine-hour power supply to agriculture sector, Telangana Water Grid Project Mission Bhagiratha, massive lift irrigation schemes and providing uninterrupted 24×7 supply through ‘Power For All’ scheme.
Stating that power sector plays a pivotal role in the successful implementation of all schemes, the TSGenco chief said several major milestones have been achieved in the history of the infant Telangana State last year due to close monitoring with precise planning on day-to-day basis and concerted efforts of all employees.
The power utilities have been able to supply quality, reliable power to all categories of consumers without power cuts/restrictions for the last 26 months. For this extraordinary achievement, credit goes to the team work of power sector, he said, adding the 600 MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant Stage-II at Bhoopalpally, 4X60 MW hydro power units at Lower Jurala and first unit of 30 MW at Pulichintala were commissioned last year. The KTPS VII stage (800MW) works are going on war-footing.
Prabhakar Rao further said the TSTransco has commissioned 49 EHV substations and 2,151 circuit km of transmission network has been added after formation of Telangana State. The maximum peak demand of 8391 MW was met on January 13, 2017 and the State will be able to meet the maximum demand of about 11,000 MW during this rabi and summer season. TSTransco has the distinction of having the lowest transmission losses of around 3.12% and highest transmission availability in the country at 99.95%. The CMD appealed to all the employees to rededicate themselves for the betterment of power sector by following strict discipline which shall take the sector to new heights with ultimate consumer satisfaction as the goal.
Set to become a global super power: Dr MCR HRD Institute Director-General Vinod K Agrawal has said the country not only became the fastest growing large economy in the world, but also registered spectacular achievements in terms of all parameters of multifaceted development. Hoisting the national flag at the Institute on the occasion of the 68th Republic Day, Agrawal said India is all set to become one of the global super powers. Later, he distributed prizes to the winners in sports, literary and other competitions.
Make Hyderabad safe and secure: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy, after unfurling the national flag, said “it is important to rededicate ourselves to strengthening the country and uplift the underprivileged sections of the society.” Recalling the struggles and sacrifices made by the great leaders, he appealed to every citizen to strive to fulfill the dreams of those immortal personalities and reposition India as a strong nation. He said Hyderabad Metro Rail was recognized as an infrastructural innovation by various international infrastructural organisations and was awarded many prestigious awards, including ‘Global Infrastructural project of the year 2013’. He also said every citizen should strive to make Hyderabad a safe, secure and healthier place and make it one of the most preferred destinations globally.
Celebration on OU campus: Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandran hoisted the national flag at the College of Arts and Social Sciences on the OU campus. He took part in the celebrations organized at the Non-Teaching Home and Faculty Club on the OU campus. Members of the Osmania University Teachers’ Association (OUTA) also celebrated Republic Day at the OUTA Office.
Laxman raps TRS govt for not fulfilling promises: Hoisting the national flag at the State BJP office in Hyderabad, party president Dr K Laxman alleged that the TRS government was misleading the people instead of fulfilling its election promises like providing jobs to youth, three acre land to Dalits, double bed room houses to poor and fee-reimbursement to students. BJLP leader G. Kishen Reddy, BJLC leader N. Ramchender Rao, other leaders and party workers participated in the event.
Uttam accuses Modi, KCR of disrespecting Constitution: TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that the State and Central governments were not respecting the country’s Constitution and working against its spirit. Hoisting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the credit of achieving country’s freedom and according separate Telangana State go to the Congress only. He said the Congress ruled the country and the State with Constitutional spirit and democratic values. There was scant respect for people’s opinion and autocratic rule was being enforced in the State and at the Centre, he said. –NSS
