Incessant Rains Lead To Damage Of Ministers’ Chambers

Water has seeped into Ministers Ganta Srinivas Rao and Devineni Uma’s chambers, exposing the poor quality of construction.

Amaravati: Incessant rains in Andhra Pradesh have had their effect on AP Secretariat too in the State Capital, with water seeping into the chambers of Ministers Ganta Srinivas Rao and Devineni Uma.

Water leaked from the roof, walls and glass doors as well inside the 4th Block. A part of the ceiling of Ganta Srinivas Rao’s chamber fell on to the floor. Work of revenue officials was severely affected. This has only exposed the inferior quality of construction of the temporary secretariat complex at Velagapudi.

Staff were having a tough time cleaning up the floors.

Last month too, water had seeped into Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s chambers following a just 20-minute rain. The Leader of Opposition even got drenched.

The TDP Government had then blamed unidentified persons for intentionally cutting pipes on the top floor of the Assembly building to flood the office of the opposition leader with a view to defame the establishment. But what will it say now that water has leaked into Ministers Ganta Srinivas Rao and Devineni Uma’s chambers?

Will the government accept the poor quality of construction in the capital zone? The two incidents only belie the State Government’s claims on building a world class capital.
