Rohit hits India into semis

  • Pakistan-Australia match on Friday
  • Raina makes 65 runs
  • India dismisses all the rival batsman 7 times
  • Registers 7th win in a row

Melborn: India has made it again, for the seventh time in a row in World Cup 2015. Star batsman Rohit Sharma had hit India into the semi-finals. The talented cricketer from Mumbai found his form at the right time. The Tigers from Bangladesh made their fans back home proud by the way they played the quarter final game with the defending champions on Thursday.  In the fifth World Cup the Bangaldesh team made it to knockout stage. It is not a small achievement for a team which got a Test status just 15 years ago. India now awaits the outcome of the match between Pakistan and Australia, to be played on Friday, to know who their rival would be in the semi-final tie.

There was a time in the game when India appeared bogged down by Bangladesh bowlers. India scored only 99 runs in the first 25 overs. It was 51 for no loss at the end of the 10th over. But it added only 48 runs in the next 15 overs. Rohit was in the middle but Ajinkya Rahane was getting the strike and wasting the balls making only 11 runs off 25 balls. After Shakib-al Hassan forced Shikhar Dhawan to edge a ball and the wicket keeper did no mistake. In the very next over Virat Kohli left. The game was wide open at that time. With the departure of Rahane after a laborious 19, Bangladesh was very much in the game. Taskin Ahmed bowled well. Rubel Hossain was generating good pace. When on 90 Rohit gave a chance which was grabbed by the Bagladesh fielders but unluckily for them it turned out to be a no-ball. The batsman went on to add 42 runs to make it almost impossible for the Tigers to even think of making a huge score to beat India.

The beauty of the game on Thursday was that the Indian batsman who are known to be good have remained very good and the bowlers who are notoriously erroneous bowled well as they have been doing in this World Cup  making India an unbeatable side. This team comprising pace triumvirate, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma, has bowled out all the teams it played in this tournament so far. Indians had taken ten wickets in every match, thus making 70 out of 70 wickets beating the opponents completely. This was possible because of the newly acquired prowess of pace bowling. India which compiled 302 had dismissed Bangladesh for 193 and won by 110 runs. Besides Rohit, Suresh Raina scored a decent 65. Sharma who score 15 runs each against UAE and Ireland overcame his problems and stayed at the wicket to score respectable number of runs.
