I will fight 2019 polls, Power Star declares
‘I am fighting for the people, not for me’
Anantapur: Power Star Pawan Kalyan declared that his party Jana Sena would contest for all the seats in 2019 Assembly elections. He said he will be launching his party office in Anantapur early next year. It will be the first Jana Sena political party office outside Hyderabad.
Addressing a huge rally at Anantapur on Thursday, he said the political leaders of Anantapur failed in fighting for resolution of the problems faced by the people. He spoke of the poor women of Anantapur district who are migrating to other places for work. He questioned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as to how he can praise the Central leaders who did nothing more than what is due to the people of Andhra Pradesh. He spoke of the allegations against TDP on political corruption. He appealed to the TDP not to neglect a particular caste or class or religion. He asked the ruling party to treat all the people equally.
Pawan Kalyan has cautioned the TDP that the people of Rayalaseema and north coastal Andhra are entertaining thoughts about separate statehood. He told the TDP leaders to take care of all the regions so that such tendencies are not get encouraged. Though he is not interested in politics, the injustice done by politicians would cause him anger and anguish. He promised to visit Anantapur periodically and organize the political party from there.
Pawan Kalyan said he spoke to Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj Abhiyan about the plight of the people of AP. He said he asked Yadav to help him in finding solutions to their problems. He offered to take people of Anatapur to Delhi by train and try to meet the Prime Minister. He wondered why leaders of Anantapur failed to address the crisis faced by the farmers. People from other countries, persons like Satya Sai Baba and others did a lot to help the poor people. But the leaders did nothing. He promised to stand by the people of Rayalaseema. He said he would work with scientists and farm leaders to solve the problems created by the drought in Anantapur district.
“I have no personal differences with either Chandrababu Naidu or YS Jaganmohan Reddy, YSRCP leader. I have only differences on policy issues. But if they forget the welfare of the people and behave indifferently, I will treat them as enemies. I am fighting for the people, not for me. I will be respected if I keep quiet. But I am not a person to keep silent when the people are suffering. If the future generations are affected by the policies of the leaders, the Jana Sena party will not keep silent. He declared that he would sacrifice his life for Annadaata, the farmer. We should have a farmer and a soldier in every family. He raised the slogan, ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Pawan said he is not only an actor, but also a farmer. He can work also as a farm labourer.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced special assistance in midnight. Where was the need for him to make a statement in the middle of the night?, the actor-turned politician asked. It is sheer deceit. Leaders who come and beg votes at the time of elections forget the people the moment they take oath of office. We know their roots and how to trounce them if they deceive people, Pawan Kalyan said.
The Finance Commission had said that the State of Andhra Pradesh would get Rs 1.70 lakh crore as part of GST pool. The special assistance announced by Jaitley is more or less the same, he said. “They (Union government) have deceived the people and the state ruling party has been organizing felicitations for union ministers. I have high respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But I would not hesitate to question him when the interests of the people of AP are affected,” Pavan Kalyan said and added, he had asked for an appointment with the PM. He is yet to get it.
Pawan Kalyan said he had written to the PM saying that denying special status to AP would tantamount to doing injustice. He would meet and discuss with the PM as soon as he got an appointment, he said. The Union government was giving funds which are due to any State of the Republic in normal course and nothing more than that is being given in the name of special package. “Union Minister Sujana Choudary reportedly said while speaking on special package that there is no need for the people to insist on Air India flights when the new companies are offering better services. But the special package they have promised remained only on the paper,” said Pawan Kalyan.
The AP Bifurcation Bill 2014 had clearly mentioned that the Polavaram project would be taken up by the Centre as a national project. Why was the state government given the job of constructing the project? Is it not deception? he asked. Both the Union and state governments have to explain their position on Polavaram project. He quipped that he had taken some time to read and understand the Bifurcation Act since the Bill was prepared by persons who were educated at Oxford and Harvard universities.
“Since I passed tenth class with great difficulty, I had to take some time to read it”, he jokingly said. He explained the significance of naming the venue of the meeting after Tarimela Nagireddy and Kalluri Subbarao. He spoke about the book written by Nagireddy, India in Mortgage in 1970. Subbarao was a great soul who worked for founding educational institutions in Anantapur district, he recalled.
“There is no water in Anantapur district. There is no scope of industries coming up here without water. How can anyone provide jobs for the thousands of educated youth without industries? When you don’t give special status, what is the difference between the Congress and the BJP, the party which was supported by people like me”, he questioned.
The BJP leaders and the leaders of the TDP who are praising the special package should realize that the people when angered would not keep quiet. When will Anantapur get central university? How can the state government organize felicitations to Venkaiah Naidu when nothing has been done to the state? If the rulers behave in the same way, we know how to teach them a lesson in 2019 elections. Don’t play with the emotions of the people, he warned. “I will fight for all the people irrespective of regions, castes and religions”, he declared.
Pawan Kalyan said his party is thinking of innovative policies to help Dalits to have their own industries. He made it clear that Jana Sena is not interested in power. It is interested in fighting for the people and resolving their problems. He ridiculed Naidu’s concept of imitating Singapore. Only high rise buildings would not make AP a Singapore. It will become Singapore only when there is no corruption. Lee Kuan Yew, the first prime minister of Singapore who ruled for 25 years, established a ruling dispensation which is free of corruption and made Singapore truly great, he reminded Chandrababu Naidu.
